Jason-2 put into orbit

On July 4, after a series of maneuvers piloted by the command center in Toulouse, Jason-2 (launched June 20) was put into its orbit at 1336 kilometers altitude. For several months it will fly in tandem with its predecessor, Jason-1, giving it time to calibrate its instruments in comparison to those of this earlier satellite.
