What is CEA ?

The CEA is a public research organization that helps France master atomic energy and

its applications in the fields of energy, industry, research, health and defense. It also

contributes to the national effort in research, technological innovation and the transfer of

high-tech technology to industry. The CEA constitutes a pole for expertise and

consultancy services for the Government. It supports the French nuclear industry at

large.

 

 

What is CEA Valorisation ?

CEA Valorisation S.A. is the Office for Technology Licensing of the French Public R&D

Establishment CEA involved in fundamental and technological research.

Its main missions are to support the creation of innovative companies with CEA

technology, increase the CEA technology transfer revenue in high potential fields and

offer a service of IP valorization to other R&D institutions and innovative companies.

 

 

Main activities

- Technology licensing of IP and know-how for worldwide out-licensing and defensive

 actions in counterfeiting situations for CEA or other R&D institutions or innovative

companies;

- Performing IP clusters;

- Supporting and financing the creation of innovative companies by temporarily becoming a minority shareholder of the company, training the team for future

fundraisings, feasibility studies, drafting a business plan?

- Company present Equity: 15,2 M?;

- 300 to 800 K? invested in each project;

- A rich and miscellaneous patents portfolio: 1800 patents families with about 1500 US

granted patents alive, 75 % of them outside nuclear and military application fields;

- The 7th French applicant company;

- 290 priority patents applications filed in 2003.
