Created by the Atomic Energy and Alternative Energies Commission (CEA) in 1963, the Office for Nuclear Affairs at the Embassy of France in the United States deals with the technical and scientific, economic, political, industrial and some defense implications of nuclear energy, both in the United States and Canada. The Office also covers activities of technology and industry watch, as well as information exchange with a number of American actors in the nuclear sector.

As a representative for the CEA, the office implements new technologies marketing studies to get to a broader understanding of the CEA counterparts in the US, in addition to commercial actions in order to make its excellence in research better known (mainly applied in new technologies for energy, information, health and the environment carried at CEA Tech).
