Mr. Jean-Yves Le Gall’s visit of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) / Caltech (Pasadena, CA)

Mr. Jean Yves Le Gall, President of CNES, was in Los Angeles on September 5th, 2014 to meet with Charles Elachi, the director of Nasa’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). With the chief scientists from JPL, they reviewed the programs run by this prestigious institute and the numerous collaborations that are in place between the two organizations: Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT), Insight, Mars 2020… Mr. Axel Cruau, Consul general of France in Los Angeles, accompanied Mr. Le Gall during these work meetings.

Mr. Le Gall and Mr. Cruau then met with Mr. Thomas Rosenbaum, the new president of Caltech. Mr. Ares Rosakis, Chair of the Division of Engineering and Applied Science at Caltech, was also present at the meeting. The French and Americans applauded the collaborations established between Caltech, of which JPL is a part, and France, and in particular with CNES and the “Ecole Polytechnique”. Our goal is capitalize on these successes and help them grow and evolve in the years to come.
