Post-doctoral position in tumor immunology and immunotherapy at the CRCL

We seek a talented and highly motivated post-doctoral fellow to join our team to investigate mechanisms of resistance to immunotherapy in cancer patients. The Caux laboratory has previously identified key pathways responsible for tumor immune escape and develops fundamental and translational research programs with the aim to design and implement new therapeutic strategies for cancer treatment. The project led by the candidate is focused on dissecting the cellular and molecular mechanisms operating in tumors and counteracting immunotherapies. The successful candidate will conduct an independent research to characterize the immune and tumor environment of human specimen using cutting-edge technologies including RNA and whole exome sequencing, multiplex tissue imaging and flow cytometry. The candidate will be also encouraged to explore new research areas of interest for the team.

Research Environment

Our team has a long-standing and recognized expertise in the field of tumor immunity and is part of the department “Immunology, Virus and Inflammation” of the Cancer Research Center of Lyon (CRCL - INSERM-1052/CNRS-5286), a multidisciplinary research center entirely devoted to fundamental and translational cancer research. It is located at the Centre Léon Bérard (CLB) anticancer center, which hosts numerous state-of-the-art technical platforms (flow cytometry, tissue and cell imaging, NGS, bioinformatics, biostatistics, animal facilities, drug discovery…). We also benefit from privileged collaborations with clinicians and pathologists allowing access to precious patient cohorts and tumor samples.

Candidate requirements

Enthusiastic applicants must hold a PhD in biology and should have already published as first author. Previous experience in immunology and knowledge in tumor immunity is mandatory. The position requires competence in classical immunological technics including cell culture, multi-parametric flow cytometry, fluorescence microscopy and/or immunostaining. Additional knowledge/competence in NGS and bioinformatics are more than welcomed. The candidate is expected to be highly motivated, creative, organized, able to take initiatives and conduct scientific investigations by his/her own in a multidisciplinary research environment. Solid written and oral communication skills are necessary.


Contract length: 18-months with a possible prolongation depending on the capacity of the candidate to apply to competitive grants
