Reception at the embassy of France for the 2012 International AIDS conference

In conjunction with the 2012 International AIDS Conference being held from July 22-27 in Washington, D.C., the ANRS (French National Agency for Research on AIDS and Viral Hepatitis), the GIP ESTHER and the Office of Science and Technology are organizing a reception at the Embassy of France in Washington, D.C. on July 24, 2012.

More than 300 participants including renowned scientists, NGO representatives, US and foreign AIDS program managers, and ministers of health from several countries were present at this reception, introduced by a warm welcome from his excellency the Ambassador of France François Delattre.

The presence of Mrs Marisol Touraine, French Minister for Social Affairs and Health and her message to the AIDS community was very highly appreciated and confirm the major role France intend to play in the fight against AIDS worldwide. This evening was the occasion to celebrate the nomination of Professor Françoise Barré-Sinoussi, 2008 Nobel Laureate in Physiology and Medicine, as the next President of the AIDS International Society for a two years period.

Other french distinguished guests included Mireille Guigaz, Ambassador for the Fight Against HIV and Communicable Diseases, Jean-François Delfraissy, Director of the French Agency for Research on Aids and Viral Hepatitis (ANRS), Dominique Israël-Biet, Chair of the Board of the Hospital Network for Therapeutic Solidarity (ESTHER), and Gilles Raguin, Director of ESTHER.
